Klister — Cross-Country Ski Tracker

Carey Pillar ("we", "us") built Klister as a cross-country ski tracking app. This policy describes what data the app collects and how it is used.
Klister uses your device's GPS to track ski sessions and map routes. Location data (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed) is collected only while you are actively recording a session. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in Settings.
With your permission, Klister reads and writes data to Apple HealthKit, including:
HealthKit data is used solely to display session metrics and sync workouts to Apple Health. Health data is never shared with third parties.
Klister uses Apple WeatherKit to record the conditions for each session and, if you turn on the Wax Morning Brief, to fetch the forecast for your home trail the evening before a ski day. Your approximate location is sent to Apple's weather service for this purpose. No personal information is included in weather requests.
You can attach one photo to a session from your photo library or the camera. The camera is used only when you tap Take Photo; Klister never reads your photo library beyond the picture you pick. Session photos are stored only on the device they were added on, inside Klister's own storage — they are never uploaded anywhere and are not synced through iCloud. A photo is deleted when you remove it or delete its session.
Inactivity reminders, journey waypoint alerts and the Wax Morning Brief are local notifications scheduled on your device. Klister has no push-notification server. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.
You may optionally enter snow conditions, snow temperature, wax logs, your wax box, gear inventory, session notes, route names, trail names, and training goals.
All session data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you are signed into iCloud, data syncs to your private iCloud container via CloudKit. Data is stored in cleartext within iCloud (CloudKit does not support field-level encryption). Your iCloud data is protected by your Apple ID and Apple's iCloud security infrastructure.
App preferences (units, default technique, etc.) are stored locally in UserDefaults and are not synced to iCloud. Session photos are stored locally only (see above). The town data used for Journey goals is a bundled offline index (GeoNames, CC BY 4.0); route directions and place names for journeys come from Apple Maps.
If you use the Apple Watch companion app, session data is transferred between your Watch and iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework (direct device-to-device, no external server).
Klister does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only services used are:
Klister does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone. You may choose to export session data as GPX or CSV files via the share sheet. Exported files contain your GPS track, health metrics, and session details. You control who receives exported files.
Klister is completely free. No in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no ads.
You can delete individual sessions within the app (deleting a session also deletes its photo); gear, wax box items, trails and goals can be deleted in the app too. To delete all data, uninstall the app and remove Klister data from iCloud via Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
Klister does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
